L\u2019objectif est d\u2019am\u00e9liorer l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 des traitements existants contre le cancer du poumon en utilisant des cellules du syst\u00e8me immunitaire appel\u00e9es cellules dendritiques, pr\u00e9lev\u00e9es et modifi\u00e9es \u00e0 partir du patient (ou de la souris dans des mod\u00e8les exp\u00e9rimentaux). <\/p><p>Les <strong>cellules dendritiques<\/strong> agissent comme des sentinelles du syst\u00e8me immunitaire : elles d\u00e9tectent les menaces et alertent l\u2019organisme afin de d\u00e9clencher une r\u00e9ponse immunitaire. En modifiant ces cellules pour qu\u2019elles puissent reconna\u00eetre un plus large \u00e9ventail d\u2019antig\u00e8nes tumoraux et exprimer des cytokines th\u00e9rapeutiques, les chercheurs visent \u00e0 stimuler une r\u00e9ponse immunitaire plus \u00e9tendue et plus efficace, capable de surmonter les r\u00e9sistances observ\u00e9es avec les traitements actuels, tels que la chimioth\u00e9rapie. <\/p><p>Dans des mod\u00e8les murins, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s43018-023-00668-y\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">des travaux ant\u00e9rieurs<\/span><\/a> de l\u2019\u00e9quipe De Palma men\u00e9s sur d\u2019autres types de cancer ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9 :<\/p><ul><li>une r\u00e9duction de la croissance tumorale,<\/li><li>une activation robuste du syst\u00e8me immunitaire,<\/li><li>un potentiel de diminution des r\u00e9sistances aux th\u00e9rapies existantes.<\/li><\/ul><p>Au vu de ces r\u00e9sultats tr\u00e8s prometteurs, cette <strong>nouvelle m\u00e9thode <\/strong>sera appliqu\u00e9e au cancer du poumon, une pathologie notoirement difficile \u00e0 traiter lorsqu\u2019elle est diagnostiqu\u00e9e \u00e0 un stade avanc\u00e9.
